Careers Under Construction connects Edmonton employers with trained, work-ready candidates from our JPER employment program. We prepare our participants thoroughly, match them to the right roles, and stay involved after placement to support long-term retention.
Every candidate we refer has gone through our comprehensive program — including life stability supports, skills training, employment readiness workshops, and coaching. They arrive at your door prepared, motivated, and supported.
We handle candidate sourcing, screening, and matching at no cost to you. Our team uses AI-powered job-matching tools to connect you with candidates whose skills and goals align with your specific roles.
Our Employment Coaches don't disappear after a hire. We maintain contact with both you and your new employee for up to one-year post-placement to address any concerns and support long-term retention.
Our participants complete training in workplace communication, teamwork, time management, problem-solving, and industry-specific hard skills. They've also completed safety certifications and relevant credentials — so they can hit the ground running.
Our participants include newcomers to Canada, single parents, Indigenous Albertans, and people re-entering the workforce after time away. Hiring from this pool isn't just good for the community — it brings diverse perspectives and resilient, committed employees into your team.
We work closely with employers to understand your needs, your worksite culture, and the specific skills that matter in your sector. We tailor our training accordingly.
Connect with our Employer Services team/ fill out our online form and tell us about your open roles, your workplace, and the kind of employee who thrives in your environment. We’ll take it from there.
Using a combination of our Employment Coaches’ hands-on knowledge and AI job-matching technology, we identify participants who are a strong fit for your roles and refer them to you with a full profile and readiness summary.
You make the hiring decision. We can support the interview process if you’d like — coaching the candidate beforehand, sitting in as an observer, or facilitating a supported work trial first.
When you hire, we stay engaged. Your dedicated contact checks in with you and your new employee regularly in the first weeks and months to smooth the transition and address any workplace challenges early.

We work with employers across construction and trades, culinary and food service, hospitality, early childhood education, general labour, warehousing, retail, and social services. If you’re not sure whether we’re a fit, reach out — we’re happy to talk.
Our participants go through a thorough intake, readiness assessment, and coaching process before we refer them to employers. We only refer candidates who are genuinely ready for work — and we stay engaged post-placement to support their retention and yours.
We stay in contact with both employers and employees for up to a year after placement. If challenges arise, we get involved early to help resolve them. We have experience navigating both client and employer challenges, and our goal is always a successful long-term outcome.
Unlike a staffing agency, we are working in service of the province to address labour shortages and skills gaps. We are an employment service provider that is working to reduce issues within our economy that are preventing both job seekers as well as employers from optimizing both their talent and their business efficiency. Our focus is on long-term employment success for both the participant and the employer — not just filling a vacancy. We invest deeply in the people we refer, so they arrive prepared and supported.
